| Product Code | 605200 |
| Contents | Sulphuric Acid, 15 mL Indicator, 6 mL Titration Solution, 15 mL Test Tube, 10 mL Instructions for Use |
| Analytical Method | Redox Titration: In acid conditions, nitrite ions are oxidised by cerium(IV). The water sample is titrated with cerium sulphate against ferroin. The titration endpoint is indicated by a colour change from deep red to pale blue. |
| Number of Tests | 50 – 80 (depending on nitrite levels) |
| Interferences | Strongly alkaline water samples have to be neutralised before testing. Reducing agents other than nitrite will interfere. |
| Measuring Range | The recommeded measuring range is 100 to 1000 mg/L (1 – 20 drops @ 50 mg/L) for 5 mL of sample volume. This range can be extended by taking a smaller or larger water sample. For a 2.5 mL sample the measuring range is 200 to 2000 mg/L and for a 10 mL sample the range is 50 to 500 mg/L. |
| Shelf Life | 2 years |
| Applications | Determination and monitoring of nitrite levels in closed cooling water systems. |
