Instructions for Use
Analytical Method Diazotation/Azocoupling: In acid conditions, nitrite forms a diazo-compound with sulfanilamide. This diazo-compound reacts with N-(1-naphthyl)-ethylenediamine forming an intensely coloured pink azo dye, the intensity of which is related to the nitrite concentration.
Number of Tests ca. 80
Interferences This test is suitable for testing freshwater and seawater. Water constituents at concentrations commonly found in natural waters will not cause interferences. Some ions of heavy metals interfere because of precipitation under test conditions. Cupric ions may cause low results.
Measuring Range The standard measuring range is 0 – 1 mg/L. The colour comparator has 6 colour fields: 0–0.05–0.1–0.2–0.5–1 mg/L. For higher nitrite concentrations, the sample has to be diluted. A 1:4 sample dilution can be carried out easily, thus extending the measuring range to 8 mg/L.
Shelf Life 2 years
Applications Determination and monitoring of nitrite in waste water and aquaculture.
